All Saints Church Bisham

Bisham, Marlow SL7 1RW

The church is located in the small village of Bisham, just outside Marlow.

Via Car

If you're arriving via the M40, you'll drive south down the A404 until you approach a roundabout where you should take the third exit. Follow this road as it goes through Bisham village, after you've taken the tight left turn follow straight and the church is off to the left at the end of that straight (as it turns right).

If you're arriving via the M4, you'll drive north up the A404 until you approach a roundabout where you should take the first exit. Follow this road as it goes through Bisham village, after you've taken the tight left turn follow straight and the church is off to the left at the end of that straight (as it turns right).

If you find that you approach Bisham via Marlow, head south down the high street, over Marlow Bridge and follow the road all the way down. The church is off to the right at the end of the straight as the road goes round to the left.

Via Train

The nearest train station is Marlow train station which is a 6 minute drive or 22 minute walk from the church. Trains to Marlow run once an hour from Maidenhead which is easily reached from most places along the M4 corridor. The second closest station is Maidenhead, you may prefer to arrive here and get a taxi to the church, this should take less than 15 minutes if there is no traffic.

Via Taxi

At the time of writing, Uber is still in it's infancy in the area so you can rarely get a ride. Therefore we strongly advise booking your taxi with a local taxi firm - please let us know if you need help finding a taxi company.

Moor Hall

Moor Hall, The Moor, Cookham SL6 9QH

Moor Hall is located in the village of Cookham on the edge of the moor.

Via Car

Moor Hall is located less than 15 minutes drive from the church. If you are coming from the church you will most likely enter Cookham through the newer side of the village on one road, you'll pass the train station where you'll drive across the tracks. Keep following this road over a few mini roundabouts and you'll come to the moor where it opens out on both sides. Moor Hall is accessed by turning first right straight after the moor and then a quick first right again to double back on yourselves. Moor Hall is straight ahead through the arch, there is a large car park round the back. If you find yourself entering Cookham from the other side, you'll need to turn on to Cookham High Street (second right once you have come over the bridge into Cookham or just after Cookham cars if you have come from Maidenhead) then take the left at the end of the high street just before you come to the moor, then take a quick right and Moor Hall is at the end through the arch.

Via Train

Cookham Train Station is a 12 minute walk from Moor Hall, follow the road to the right when you come out of the station, walk along the main road until you arrive at the moor. Moor Hall is accessed from the far end of the moor on the right hand side.

Via Taxi

If you are planning to take a taxi from the church to Moor Hall then we recommend that you book for them to collect you at 1:30. There are however a number of guests who will be driving and may have spare space in their cars, if you let us know we'd be happy to pair you up with someone (even if it's just to share taxis).

Arriving by Air

If you have been amazing enough to fly to our wedding, the below information may be useful!

Airports

There are six main airports which are labelled as 'London' airports, but as you can see from the map there is only one which actually sits within what you'd typically call London. Therefore it's really important to consider which airport you are flying into before you book your flights. London Heathrow is by far the closest to the wedding and Maidenhead (where we live). It'll take you between 30-40 minutes to drive to the venue/Maidenhead depending on which terminal you fly into and the level of traffic, it'll probably take a bit longer if you are traveling in rush hour. It's worth noting that Heathrow has four terminals, some of which have seperate access from others so if you're getting a train or taxi make sure you get to the right place. From Heathrow you can take a train straight into London if you are staying there, it's also possible to get a train to Maidenhead and other surrounding areas. Getting to Maidenhead takes between 38 minutes - 1 hour depending on terminal and time. If you'd prefer to get a taxi, then you will definitely be able to get an Uber just make sure to check carefully where the pick up point is as it's normally different to where other taxis are (the app will usually tell you). If you are not going to get an Uber then it's important that you book a taxi in advance, otherwise it could be very expensive. Please let us know what time your flight gets in, if we can come get you then we will! Other airports are further afield, but are often cheaper to fly in to. Car travel distance to Maidenhead: London Gatwick - 50 miles, London Luton - 46 miles, London Stansted - 74 miles, London Southend - 87 miles. All of these airports have train links which will lead you to Maidenhead in varying times via London, if you'd prefer to get a taxi please let us know and we can help you book one - uber or not booking can be very expensive compared to booking. Once again, please let us know when you fly in and we will happily come pick you up if we can.

Getting Around

If you feel comfortable, by far the easiest way to get the most out of visiting England is to hire a car and drive. England is densely populated in areas particularly around London, but these areas tend to be spread out and poorly connected by buses so you're reliant on trains. Although the train network in England (and London specifically) is excellent, due to the nature of having to stay on a track it can often take you much longer to get to where you need to go. That being said, if you plan on just visiting Maidenhead & London and you're happy getting a train from the airport there is really no need to hire a car. Maidenhead is between 25-45 minuts on the train to London Paddington which is relatively central, from there you can take the London Underground (the tube) which is widely regarded as the best subway system in the world. If you do decide to hire a car, you'll want to swat up on how to drive in England. If you're travelling any distance then you'll spend most of your time on motorways (including driving from the airport to Maidenhead). Motorways are straight forward to drive on, just remember that in England we do not 'undertake', by that we mean we only pass other vehicles by over taking them on the right side of their vehcile. That also means that if you are not currently overtaking, you should be in the furthest left lane. When it comes to roundabouts, unless they are very small there is usually a sign post just before which explains which lane you should be in, there will also most likely be arrows on the road in each lane. You always give right of way to traffic coming from your right (traffice should always flow clockwise around a roundabout). The other big difference is that you never turn right or left on a red light (please also don't forget to drive on the left!). When booking a hire car you'll need to ask for an automatic, most UK cars are manual.

Things to Do and See

There are lots of great things to see and do near Maidenhead. London is less than 45 minutes away by train and could easily keep anyone busy for a week, but there are also a number of places worth visiting nearby. We'd recommend that you definitley visit Windsor (20mins by car, 25-30 mins by train), as well as the castle - which is incredible - it also has great shopping, some fantastic walks, the river and quaint little cobbled streets. Another local worthwhile visit is Marlow (10 mins by car, 25 by train) or its big brother Henley (20 mins by car, 25-35 by train), two affluent riverside towns steeped in history with great walks, shopping and food to match. If you would prefer something a bit grander, Cliveden is a National Trust property set in extravagent gardens and is less than 10 minute drive from Maidenhead Town Centre. Great for a summers walk or a cheeky afternoon tea (but do book that in advance). A little further afield, Oxford (45min-1hour drive, 45 mins train) has it all from history through to more modern activities. And lastly if you're wanting to travel a little further Bath (1.5-2 hour drive, 1 hour 20 min train) has some incredible architecture and is well worth the visit. Please let us know how long you're planning on staying and we can help you plan your activities.
